Shambhala is the name of a project located on an archipelago of over 100 tropical islands in East Indonesia. This private conservancy is filled with protected virgin rainforests, mangroves, powder white beaches and teeming coral reefs inside a Marine Protected Area. The company’s overarching mission is to create a sustainable and long-term model for large-scale conservation through a blend of high-value low-footprint luxury eco-resorts and private residences; carbon credits; natural asset credits; and ocean-based SMEs including sustainable fisheries, pearl farming and natural products. Shambhala will also have a world-class terrestrial and marine research centre for rare and endangered species. The company has signed an MoU with an affiliated partner for a sovereign fund in the United Arab Emirates to protect the tropical rainforest which will contribute towards the company’s plan to become the world’s first Blue-Green Special Economic Zone (SEZ), demonstrating a deeply harmonious relationship with the natural world.
